THE WATERCOLOURS OF DAVID KEITH
and
THE MYSTICAL POETRY OF ANNABEL DAVIES
Mixing Colours
Before starting the following exercises, you will need a brush, probably a size 4 or 5. Have a look on the materials page if you aren't sure which brush to use.
You will need some heavy, thick but not very textured paper.
Every time you use a colour..LEARN ITS QUALITIES. Does it stain the paper or can you almost wash it away with clean water? Is it transparent or opaque?
Does it mix easily with other colours or does it sometimes break up into lots of small speckles... a process known as granulation which can give dramatic effects for stormy skies or rough old walls.
